About The Project
This project in Innisfil focused on enhancing an existing deck and pergola by creating a clean, functional hardscape patio that expands how the backyard can be used.
The goal was to build a ground-level space that feels connected to the home while offering multiple areas for seating and gathering. The finished patio creates a natural extension of the deck, giving the homeowners more room to relax, entertain, and enjoy the property throughout the warmer months.

Design & Layout
The patio was designed to balance openness with structure. By framing the space with low retaining walls, the layout naturally separates seating areas without closing the yard off. This creates a sense of flow while still giving each zone its own purpose.
The fire pit acts as a central focal point, making the space equally usable during the day or in the evening. Seating areas are positioned to take advantage of open views and easy access back to the home, while maintaining clear walkways around the patio.
Materials & Finish
Neutral-toned stone was used throughout the patio and walls to complement the home’s exterior and surrounding landscape. The clean lines and consistent stonework give the space a timeless look that will age well and remain easy to maintain.
The hardscape integrates seamlessly with the existing deck and pergola, allowing both structures to feel like part of a single, cohesive outdoor living area rather than separate features.
The Result
The finished space provides a versatile outdoor area designed for everyday use and entertaining. With multiple seating options, a central fire feature, and a layout that encourages gathering, this backyard now offers far more functionality than the deck alone.
This project is a great example of how thoughtful hardscape design can transform an existing outdoor setup into a complete backyard living space.
